Digital Paxton: Digital Collection, Critical Edition, and Teaching Platform

Archive

Welcome to the Paxton Archive. Click any item to access images, metadata, and full-text transcriptions as we add them. (You may reference Franklin’s “Narrative" for a sample pamphlet annotated with transcriptions.)

All images are free for non-commercial use under Creative Commons, Attribution-Non-Commercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0). By default, all images are available as 300 dpi jpeg files, though readers are encouraged to visit the Library Company of Philadelphia and the Historical Society of Pennsylvania for additional download options.

Below "Contents" you may use paths to filter materials by type. There are currently 43 Pamphlets, 12 Broadsides, seven Manuscripts, seven Political Cartoons, and five German Translations. The Background path aggregates 13 related items published between 1755-1771.

Finally, you can use the Search button to search across item names, metadata, and transcriptions. (We ask your patience as Scalar crawls more than 1,200 items loaded into the site.) At any point you return to this or any other path using the Table of Contents, accessible from the menu in the top left corner of the screen.
