The Indians' Letter to the Representatives of Pennsylvania, May 16, 1772 - 1
of Pennsilvania.
The Christian Indians of Wirluning and Sheshecunnunk
present their most sincere thanks for the Notice α care hitherto taken of them,
their Wives and Children in the time of their great trouble α distress, especially
when they were protected & mantained at the Province Island & Philidelphia
Baracks, They shall ever preserve a grateful remembrance thereof, impress it
upon the minds of their children, and relate your acts of Humanity & Benevolence
to those distant Nations amongst whom they are going to live.
They wish that the Peace of God may be with the People of this
Province, & that gave & Plenty may always be the lotof the Industrious
Inhabitants thereof. They bid you the last Farewell, They thank you for
the Present you had provided for them, and this only additional favor, that
you will always kindly remember the faithful α unshaken attachment of
those Christian Indians to his Majesty’s Government in this Province
