The Congregational Diary of Lancaster Moravian Church, 27-28 December 1763 - 1

Tuesday 27th [December 1763]
42 children were in school; it was lovely weather. The soldiers went to Philadelphia with the wagons they had seized from the farmers. Rancke returned to Earlingtown. Elisabeth Franck took leave of the school, her mother needs her at home. Between 2 and 3 o’clock in the afternoon 20 or more men came, all on horseback, riding up the open street to the Court-house, turned their horses around from time to time, went then to the Prison and forced the door where the Manour-Land Indians were and murdered all of them, there were 14 of them.
