Shamokin 9 M17th 1760

Respected Friend,

On the 15thCurrent John Hatson came
in here & brought in a Gurneyman who belong’d
to a [,] now on the Oswego Lake & was taken about
3 Months since by the French & Indians, from whom he
made his escape, & calling at French Margarets [help]
they desir’d him to stay a few days & come here with
some of their Family. John brought down & string
of Wampum from [Gate] with a speech to the Governor
to acquaint him that the indisposition of his Family
had prevented her [from] complying sooner with his request,
& with the assurance that she would bring them to Philde
this fall; & to desire that no blame might be laid upon
her for her sisters carrying the white woman to
the allegany as it was not in her power to
pre vail with her to take her to Philade. I have
now recvthe grindstones for Papunhad [unreadable]
& shall deliver them carefully, please to give my respects
to my Friend H.B.

From thy Friend
N Holland
