Governor Hamilton to Papunehan, October 12, 1761 - 2

But as the journey quite up to the Munseys Country
would be too long and inconvenient for my messengers to undertake
at this season of the year, I make it my request to You, that You
will receive the message from them, and carry it in your own person
to the Chief of the Munsies at their Own Habitations. And not only
acquaint them with my deep concern for this unfortunate accident
but use your best offices and endevours to quiet them, and wipe
away all resentment from their Minds. _ Assuring them that
they shall have the same justice, as if the Fact had been Comitted
upon a white Man.

Brother
I thank you again & again for the kind & friendly
behaviour You have shown to us on this Occasion, which I shall
allways remember to your advantage. And you may be assured
I shall omit no opportunity of acknowledging and returning it,
by showing at all times an equal friendship for you, and Concern
for your Welfare and prosperity.

Brother
I am greatly obliged to You for having advanced
for my use, so much wampum as You gave to the three -
Munseys, and I have directed my Messengers to repay it to you
with my hearty thanks. _

James. Hamilton
12. October 1761
