If I can trace the Dislike of some of my Hearers from any Thing, it is from this their Education. They have been taught to love Bishops, a Relict of Popery; and tho’ I do not act under one now, and do in my Heart not altogether join in with them, yet I see no Reason for their Hatred, seeing that I wrote to the Arch-Bishop of Canterbury, to get my Lord of London to License me in St. Paul’s, agreeable to their Minds, which his Lordship refused, and made it not my Fault.
